A crown is used to restore a damaged tooth to its right or original shape. It is useful for teeth which have had root canal therapy done. Sometimes, it can be done to correct slightly crooked teeth for cosmetic reasons.
In order to prepare your tooth for a crown, the dentist would trim the tooth all around and even underneath your gum. After this is done, a measurement of your mouth is taken and used to make the crown.

Acrylic crowns
These are used in children or as a temporary measure until the permanent crown can be done or is ready. At Nene dnetal centre, we have already made acrylic crowns and we can also make one in our lab.
Metal crowns
Stainless steel crowns are also used in children or as temporary crowns but for some adults, they are required. Gold crowns are also available. They are very strong and can be trimmed to fit you perfectly.
Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns
These crowns are the most common crowns because of their strength. They have an inner part of metal and an outer part of ceramic.
After the trimming of your tooth is done, your dentist would take a measurement of your mouth using a material. You would then be given a temporary crown until your crown is ready in a week or two.
All ceramic crowns
With the Computer Assisted Design-CAM technology, you can get your crown in just one day! After the tooth preparation has been done, an impression is taken using our blucam, which transfers the images to the computer. The dentist would generate a crown on the computer and send it to our milling machine, which takes some minutes to produce the crown.
We have different brands of ceramics, including the Sirona, Ivoclar and Zirconia, all with varying strengths and properties.
